The Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone, an important equipment manufacturing base in Southwest China’s Guizhou province, has made continuous efforts in intelligent industrial manufacturing to boost industrial transformation and upgrading and advance high-quality development of the industrial economy.

Intelligent manufacturing, which is conducive to cost reduction as well as efficiency and quality improvement, has become the new driving force for the economic development zone.
Guizhou Aerospace Electrical Appliances Co., Ltd. located in the zone, has completed three automatic cable needle production lines that can handle more than ten processes automatically.

Chen Zhenyu, the company's chairman, said the company is now able by use of machine learning and big data analysis to give production orders to intelligent equipment without manual participation. The product quality has been greatly improved, and the pass rate can reach 99.5 percent.

Yudie Group, the largest cable manufacturer in Guizhou province, has become the first cable manufacturing enterprise integrating intelligent manufacturing and intelligent warehousing in China. The group put 12 wire and cable intelligent production lines into operation at the end of last year, and its intelligent warehousing system became operational in May 2019.

With the intelligent warehousing system, when the products are delivered from the warehouse, the operator only needs to place an order on the computer and the required model of products will be delivered to the designated location in less than two minutes.
In recent years, based on its industrial advantages, the Guiyang economic development zone has further deepened integration of big data, artificial intelligence and traditional manufacturing.
The development zone has four projects listed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration projects and new model application projects. Its national intelligent manufacturing projects account for 38.5 percent of those Guizhou province and 45.5 percent of Guiyang's.
As of the first half of 2019, the number of industrial enterprises above designated size in the economic development zone exceeded 94, with 77 enterprises in the fields of electronic information (big data), high-end equipment manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals and health, 81.7 percent of the total.
From January to July, the economic development zone's added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 12.2 percent year-on-year.
