Since the start of the year, 1,381 new enterprises have been set up in Guiyang Economic and Technology Zone (GEDTZ) in the capital city of southwestern Guizhou province, according to local media reports on Oct 17.
That's increased the total of companies resident in the Guiyang zone to 10,492 and represents increase of 15.15 percent over the same period last year.
In addition, 2,296 individual businesses were added to the zone, bringing the total to 20,256, an increase of 12.78 percent over the same period last year.
Zone officials said the consistent increase of enterprises in the GETDZ was inseparable from the continuous optimization of its business environment.
In recent years, the zone has focused on improving such areas as service approvals, investments and trade, business operations and legal protection.
Officials said that with its concept of the "business environment is productivity," it has adapted to the new normal of economic development and an optimized business environment -- and fostered innovation to promote economic development.
