Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) in Southwest China's Guizhou province reported steady growth in intellectual property (IP) creation in the first half of 2026, with 792 patents authorized, up 6.73 percent year-on-year.
Invention patents accounted for 474 of the total, or nearly 60 percent, reflecting a shift toward higher-value innovation. Guiyang HIDZ also registered 774 new trademarks during the period, a 129.67 percent increase from a year earlier, underscoring stronger corporate branding efforts.
Guiyang HIDZ remained Guizhou's leader in data-related IP, with 229 registered data IP assets covering data products, algorithm models, and artificial intelligence. The registrations have supported the province's exploration of the market-oriented allocation of data resources.
The zone continued to strengthen its IP service network through rights protection, mediation, and service centers. In the first six months, it provided 63 rounds of consulting and rights protection services while helping key enterprises improve patent strategies, risk management, and commercialization through targeted training and support.
Earlier this year, Guiyang HIDZ was selected as the only representative from Guizhou for China's national pilot zone of developing high-quality IP service clusters. The zone plans to further enhance IP services, cultivate high-value patents, accelerate commercialization efforts, and promote financial innovation to support regional innovation-driven development.
