Recently, the office of the leading group for promoting the high-quality development of development zones in Southwest China's Guizhou province announced the list of "key development zones" in the province, which includes the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ).
The identification of "key development zones" in Guizhou was carried out in accordance with the "Guizhou Province Key Development Zone Identification and Management Measures (Trial)" through procedures such as independent application by the development zone, review and recommendation by various cities and prefectures, comprehensive evaluation, and online publicity. Identifications such as this list are released once every two years.
This year, a total of 45 "key development zones" have been identified, with their cumulative output value of industries above a designated size exceeding 680 billion yuan ($93.15 billion) in 2023. This accounted for over 80 percent of the total industrial output value of development zones in the entire province.
The provincial authorities will guide the concentration of various resources, such as policies, funds, projects, enterprises, and talents, to these designated zones in accordance with various requirements and factors. This is set to accelerate the transformation of these zones into highlands of industrial development, which will lead to them becoming important growth poles for the industrial economy.
As the first national high-tech zone in Guizhou, Guiyang HIDZ is a development area for the local big data industry.
Since its establishment, the zone has focused on new industrialization, adhering to a "high-end, green, and intensive" development path.
Currently, Guiyang HIDZ is home to 355 high-tech enterprises, accounting for 26.6 percent of Guiyang city's total and 17.6 percent of Guizhou province's total. It has nurtured 12 technologically advanced "little giant" enterprises and 74 provincial-level technologically advanced small and medium-sized enterprises.
