In 2022, the solid waste utilization and disposal rate of general industrial solid waste in Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, reached 99.35 percent.
That's according to a meeting on Aug 29 promoting the construction of a "zero waste city."
Last year, Guiyang completed the application process for this and was included on the list of national zero-waste cities during the 14th Five-year Plan Period (2021-25).
During the meeting, participants concentrated on studying Guiyang's plan, and the progress on the construction of a zero waste city in Guiyang HIDZ was also reported.
The meeting stressed that the construction work has been progressing smoothly, and some specific tasks have achieved preliminary results. The solid waste management system and framework in the entire zone are more robust, and the practice of green and low-carbon development continues to deepen.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of related departments taking up responsibility for the construction plan and fully promoting it.
