Lyuzhijiang Bridge, the first single-tower and single-span steel box girder suspension bridge in the history of highway construction, was recently successfully connected, setting three new world records in the process.
This bridge design has set three world records as a single-pylon suspension bridge with a maximum span of 780 meters, a maximum inclination angle of 54 degrees for tunnel anchors, and a maximum height of 320 meters for stiffening beam hoisting.
After completion, the bridge will reduce travel time from about 1.5 hours to less than 2 minutes, which will result in countless benefits for residents of the area.
The bridge lies on the Yuxi-Chuxiong Highway in Southwest China's Yunnan province.
It was designed by Guizhou Transportation Planning Survey and Design Academe Co, an enterprise in the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone in the city of Guiyang in Guizhou province.
It is a leading enterprise in the survey and design of highways in Guizhou and has won the "Gustav Lindsall" award, which is known as the Nobel Prize of the bridge industry, and the 2021 Fidic Global Engineering Project Special Excellence Award.
