A smart communications and multi-functional tower developed by Guizhou Zhongnan Jingtian Technology Co – located in the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – was recently awarded seven national patents.
According to company chairman Niu Chuanjun, the smart tower is a transformation and upgrade of an existing tower design.
Niu said it can not only generate lighting, but also integrate multiple functions – such as road monitoring, meteorological monitoring, 5G network coverage, new energy charging and 5G base station platform data collection.
The development is expected to save investment costs and improve the efficiency of city services.
Additionally, the tower also has a one-key help function. If residents press the help button on the tower, they can immediately make a video call with the personnel at the help center.
The tower will then automatically transmit the assistance information and location information to the management platform.
At the same time, nearby surveillance cameras will be activated and the on-site real-time video will be sent back to the management platform for personnel to process and use.
Currently, the tower has been undergoing trial operations in the Longgong service area in the Qingzhen section of the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway.
Moving forward, plans are for it to be used on highways and urban roads and at toll stations and service areas, among other things.
