A total of 13 projects from the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, or Guiyang HIDZ – located in the city of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently met with success at the Guizhou Provincial Science and Technology Awards.
The Guizhou Provincial Science and Technology Awards organizers set up five categories of awards, with a total of 125 projects receiving acclaim. The categories were: the Highest Science and Technology Award, the Natural Science and Technology Award, the Technological Invention Award, the Science and Technology Progress Award and the Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
The projects from the Guiyang HIZD are involved in fields including big data, materials, biomedicine and equipment manufacturing.
One Guiyang HIDZ winner was a research project, successful in the discovery and application of new functions of several genes in the process of leukemia occurrence and development.
This was independently completed by the Key Laboratory of Natural Product Chemistry at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Guizhou province, winning it second prize in the Natural Science and Technology Award.
The project discovered several new or known oncogenes that can effectively inhibit or promote F-MuLV-induced erythroleukemia.
