A nameplate unveiling ceremony for the Guiyang branches of the Research Center for the Regional Coordinated Development of Zhejiang University and the China Academy of West Region Development was held on Sept 29 in the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ).
The two Guiyang branches will provide intelligence support for Guiyang and Guizhou’s economic and social development.
They will carry out decision-making consultations, special planning, and policy formulation research on major theoretical and practical issues facing economic and social development, such as poverty alleviation, regional coordinated development, economic transformation and upgrading, and the development of local industries.
They will also serve local research, information sharing, and talent training for important fields.
The Research Center for the Regional Coordinated Development of Zhejiang University was established in December 2014.
In February 2020, the center was selected as a pilot unit for the construction of national high-end think tanks, and became one of the 28 national high-end think tanks, which also include the Development Research Center of the State Council, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Meanwhile, the China Academy of West Region Development was jointly established by the National Development and Reform Commission and Zhejiang University in October 2006.
It focuses on interactions between the east and the west and the coordinated development of the regions, the coordinated development of regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, and the coordinated development of Zhejiang province.
The academy has participated in the drafting of many important national documents, major strategy formulations, and policy designs.
