Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, made great achievements in the industrial sector during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), according to local media reports.

Over the five years, the total output value of large-scale industries in the zone reached 68.9 billion yuan ($10.60 billion). Since 2017, the annual growth rate of the added value of large-scale industries in the zone has remained above 20 percent.

During the period, the fixed-asset investment in the zone reached 55.7 billion yuan, industrial investment reached 27.6 billion yuan, and investment in major provincial projects and key projects reached 36.5 billion yuan.

The zone has attached importance to high-level opening-up and high-quality development, focusing on the growth of medium- and high-end manufacturing and service industries.

It has fostered many advanced equipment manufacturing enterprises. In 2020, the total output value of the six new industries accounted for 96 percent of the zone's total, including advanced equipment manufacturing, electronic information manufacturing, and new energy.

Guiyang HIDZ promoted the integration of big data and the real economy among 191 companies to advance their growth.

It also focused on improving the business environment, offering better services to companies, and helping them to solve difficulties. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the zone has provided both material and policy support for companies since 2020.

Currently, Guiyang HIDZ is home to 13 of the Fortune Global 500 companies, nine of China's top 500 companies, and nine of China's top 500 private companies.
