Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) ranked 42nd among 169 national high-tech zones in terms of overall performance in 2020, up eight places compared with the previous year, according to information from the zone's sci-tech innovation and entrepreneurship bureau on Feb 19.
Guiyang HIDZ is located in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province. The evaluation results were recently announced by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The zone's two indicators of "knowledge creation and technological innovation capabilities" and "industrial upgrading and structural optimization capabilities" have both entered the top 50 among high-tech zones in China.
The results showed that Guiyang HIDZ boasts certain advantages in areas such as the construction of R&D platforms, government investment in science and technology, the cultivation of leading technology enterprises, and employees' salary levels. It still needs to improve in areas such as enterprise R&D investment, innovation output efficiency, corporate operation and profitability, social employment promotion, and increased corporate taxation.
Established in 1992, Guiyang HIDZ is the first national-level high-tech zone and the only special talent zone in Guizhou province. It is a big data industry development cluster.
Over the past few years, the zone has been implementing innovation-driven development strategies and big data development plans, promoting the integration of big data and the real economy. Its regional technological innovation, industrial development, opening-up and international cooperation have achieved significant progress.
The scale of the software and information technology service industry in the zone has taken the lead in the province. The area also leads Guizhou for its number of high-level talents.
Guiyang HIDZ also boasts the most national high-tech enterprises among the province's development zones. It has become a core engine driving high-quality development in the province.
