A 500-kilovolt hydro-photovoltaic agricultural power plant started operating in Zhenning county -- in Southwest China's Guizhou province -- on Dec 19.
It became the first 500 kV energy power generation project under the direct management of the China Southern Power Grid Company Limited.
The solar power plant was built by PowerChina Guiyang Engineering Corporation Limited -- located in the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ).
The power station covers an area of more than 5,100 mu (340 hectares) with an installed capacity of 150 megawatts.
Since the groundbreaking in September, PowerChina Guiyang Engineering completed the site leveling, drilling and pile installations on the acquired land. At the same time, various difficulties were overcome during the construction.
The annual average power generation of the station is about 172.6 million kwh, which can provide 3,451.97 million kwh of clean energy for the grid over the course of 20 years.
About 478,200 metric tons of standard coal can be saved and 119,200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced every year, with remarkable energy saving and emissions reduction benefits.
