A total of 78 resident companies in Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) in Guiyang -- capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- have received over 116.06 million yuan ($16.39 million) in support funds in the year to date, zone officials told local media on April 23.
Since January this year, Guiyang HIDZ has made every effort to prevent and control the novel coronavirus -- while ensuring the orderly development of the economy and society, as well as speeding up implementation of special policies and helping businesses overcome their difficulties.
According to zone officials, three main types of funds were issued to companies. Of the 78 enterprises securing financial support, 32 companies received special support funds, totaling about 108.4 million yuan, 17 enterprises received production resumption support funds, totaling 28.4 million yuan, while 30 businesses received innovation and entrepreneurship support funds, totaling 48.71 million yuan.
This year, the COVID-19 outbreak has caused losses in many industries. The cash flow from the funds effectively relieves the pressure of companies and is a great help to them, according to the head of a recipient company.
He added that the strong support provided by the Guiyang HIDZ to businesses made them confident and determined to achieve high standards and effectiveness in production.
In the beginning of March the zone -- even while speeding up the implementation of original policies and allocating grants to help alleviate the financial pressure on businesses -- was active in other areas.
It also formulated and rolled out 15 measures to groups to restore output and it provided relevant support for them, so they could get back to work and production in an all-round way.
