A total of 16 big data, software and information technology service enterprises located in Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) -- in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- made it onto a key provincial list for small and medium-sized enterprises specializing on science and technology, according to Guiyang HIDZ officials on March 27.
In all, there are 75 companies in the first batch of small and medium-sized science and technology enterprises in 2020 selected by the Guizhou provincial department of science and technology -- and about one fifth of them are Guiyang HIDZ enterprises.
The evaluation and selection of small and medium-sized scientific and technological enterprises is carried out by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center at the Ministry of Science and Technology and organized by provincial scientific and technological management departments.
It aims to implement the Outline of the National Strategy of Innovation-Driven Development and promote entrepreneurship and innovation.
Officials said it also aims to accelerate the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, increase precise support for scientific and tech SMEs and expand their numbers, as well as to cultivate new economic growth points.
According to local media reports, the selected businesses will benefit from support and services from the government departments. The latter will, at the same time, formulate policies and measures to support technological innovation, to give priority to these enterprises.
The zone plans to continue to encourage companies to use big data, artificial intelligence, 5G and other new generation information technology.
The aim is to improve and develop high-tech products or services, guide companies to independently develop and innovate, continue to promote big data technology and model innovation -- and cultivate and develop big data enterprises, so as to provide support for the high-quality economic development of the whole zone.
