Food safety testing technology is one of the basic technologies needed to ensure public safety. At present, Guiyang is building a central city for fairness, sharing and innovation, which is of great significance to ensuring the area's food safety. This project is based on the experience and practice of Guizhou Academy of Testing and Analysis and Guizhou Provincial Safety Inspection Center for Food in Circulation on food safety testing. With the focus on DNA and macro barcode technology, a DNA barcode testing platform is being built consisting of four modules: a traceability platform for animal-derived foods, a food-borne microbial species identification platform, a fungal (mushroom) testing platform and a GM crop testing platform. The establishment of these platforms will effectively promote the identification of species and the gene pool of animals, plants, fungi and microorganisms in food, It will help to combat illegal activities such as selling shoddy food, counterfeiting raw materials, non-GM label usage and generally improve food safety.
