Wudang's specialty food industry thrives amid tourism boom

As Guiyang's tourism market continues to grow, specialty foods from Wudang district are gaining popularity as souvenirs among visitors. Along Minsheng Road, a popular food street in Guiyang, time-honored brands offering crispy pork snacks, dried meat, pastries, and other local specialties are attracting large numbers of tourists.

At the Gui Zhou Long store on Minsheng Road, the rosehip and ham mooncakes have become a hit among visitors. "Our sales have tripled this summer," said Xiong Aidi, the store manager. "We develop products based on seasonal changes and market demand to better meet consumers' needs," said Deng Shaohui, the company's operations director.

Another time-honored Wudang brand, Xu's Crispy Pork, has long attracted queues at its Minsheng Road store. In 2026, the company saw an 18 percent year-on-year increase in sales and a 12 percent increase in revenue, while tourist purchases rose from 55 percent to nearly 70 percent of total sales.

Other well-known Wudang brands, including Ding's Crispy Pork, Qianwufu, and Xinmin Food, are also benefiting from the tourism boom. Among them, Xinmin Food saw its sales revenue triple in July and August.
