Wudang district sees tourism boom during May Day holiday

Wudang district in Guiyang city launched a series of cultural, tourism, sports and commercial activities centered on "hot spring wellness, rural retreats and diversified tourism experiences" during the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, creating new holiday consumption scenarios across both urban and rural areas.

During the holiday, the district's A-level tourist attractions received a total of 21,510 visits. Yangchang Huahua Scenic Town, Wanxiang Hot Spring, and Guiyu Hot Spring were among the most popular destinations.

Commercial centers in Wudang such as Zhengde Jiabang hosted roadside concerts, street dance competitions and live band performances, adding more vitality to the city. Meanwhile, resorts including Poly Hot Spring and Guiyu Hot Spring introduced family-friendly activities such as foam parties, fish-catching games and pet interaction experiences.

At the same time, towns including Yangchang, Pianpo and Xinchang organized bonfire parties, tea-picking activities, farming experiences, homestay camping and other rural tourism programs, creating a lively countryside holiday atmosphere. Pianpo Bouyei township also launched intangible cultural heritage experience programs featuring tie-dyeing, traditional tofu-making, and sticky rice cake-making, attracting many families with children.

The district's cultural center and library remained open free of charge during the holiday, offering public activities such as picture-book reading sessions, science experiments and film salons to further enrich the cultural life of residents and visitors.

In addition, the Mountain Forest Wellness Sojourn Project in Luoguang village of Baiyi town, which opened on April 26, emerged as one of the highlights of the holiday. Integrating astronomy culture, traditional Chinese medicine philosophy, and modern wellness concepts, the project offers a distinctive health and vacation experience nestled in the mountains.
