Wudang strengthens elderly care with smart technology

Wudang district in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has introduced smart technologies into elderly care services, using digital solutions and intelligent devices to improve safety and support for senior residents.

At the International Rehabilitation Center of Lewan in Wudang, a smart security patrol robot named "Datou Aliang" has become a new helper for elderly care workers.

Introduced in April 2025, the robot conducts regular patrols of key areas, including residents' rooms, activity spaces and rehabilitation zones. It records and stores patrol footage in real time and can alert staff members immediately if it detects emergencies or health risks.

Beyond safety monitoring, the robot also provides companionship services, allowing seniors to chat with it, check the weather and enjoy daily interactions, adding an extra sense of warmth to robot-assisted care services.

Wudang has also expanded the use of one-touch emergency alarm devices across nine elderly care institutions in the district. The devices have been installed in key areas such as bedside spaces, bathrooms and corridors, creating a 24-hour safety network for residents.

According to Wudang district civil affairs bureau, it will continue improving its smart elderly care system, expanding the application of intelligent equipment and enhancing service quality to provide seniors with safer and more comfortable lives.
