Urban renovations bring tangible well-being to residents of Wudang

Early in the morning, several venues of the comprehensive cultural service center in Wudang district's Xinquan community, including the music room, dance room, and table tennis room, were already bustling with residents. The community is part of the Xintian Life Circle, while the center is part of the 2024 Wudang district cultural life circle operation and maintenance enhancement project, allowing local residents to experience the convenience brought by the "15-minute living circle".

The cultural center is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, with extended hours until 9:30 pm upon prior request to accommodate community cultural activities. In addition to strengthening the facilities, the center is also fostering community arts teams, organizing a variety of cultural and artistic performances, and holding sports competitions such as table tennis and badminton. The cultural and sports activities are diverse, ensuring that there are events every month and plans for each quarter.

Meanwhile, the Phase II renovation project of the old residential area in the Xinguang area of Wudang district is currently being underway.

"We started construction on Aug 1, and we have completed 35 percent of the total project to date. According to the construction plan, we will complete all renovation work by the end of November and deliver it in December," said Zhang Shoubin, the project site manager.

The Phase II renovation project in the Xinguang area involves 11 buildings, 320 households, and a total construction area of 27,300 square meters. The renovation includes internal roads, rainwater and sewage pipelines, electrical engineering, street lighting, landscaping, cultural facilities, waste collection and storage facilities, convenience facilities, parking lots, and other infrastructure, with a total investment of 5.44 million yuan ($750,720).

In 2024, Wudang plans to implement 37 urban renovation projects with a total investment of over 1 billion yuan. A total of 37 projects have been launched, and 23 projects have been completed.
