Wudang Xintao Reservoir project to be completed

Construction is in full swing at the Xintao Reservoir site in Xintao village, Xiaba town, Wudang district, Guiyang, as workers take advantage of favorable weather to accelerate progress.  

The Xintao Reservoir is a key component of Guiyang's integrated water resource development and conservation efforts. It includes dams, spillways, water intake systems, safety monitoring equipment, and ecological protection measures.  

The project has reached 96 percent completion, with a total investment of 73.84 million yuan ($10.20 million) and 70 million yuan already invested. The installation and commissioning of water treatment equipment is complete, and the reservoir is now ready to supply water. The remaining tasks are expected to be finished by the end of November, and project acceptance is planned for late December.  

The reservoir, primarily designed for irrigation, will provide water for over 3,000 mu (200 hectares) of farmland across seven village groups in Xiaba town. It will also support the drinking water needs of more than 3,500 residents and 1,700 livestock. Thus, it plays a vital role in ensuring food security and improving the local environment.  

Local villagers, such as Tang Fuping from Guding village, have expressed optimism about the reservoir's impact, noting that it will resolve long-standing irrigation challenges and significantly enhance their quality of life.
