The Economic Daily recently published the research findings on the quality development index for small and medium-sized cities in China for 2024. Wudang district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, ranked 94th on the "National Top 100 Green Development Districts for 2024" list.

This honor reflects the district's outstanding performance in key indicators such as resource conservation, green consumption, pollution control, and environmental quality, demonstrating its strong commitment and tangible results in ecological civilization construction.

The research findings are based on a research framework that includes three administrative areas – counties, urban districts and towns – along with six indices: comprehensive strength, green development, investment potential, technological innovation, quality of new urbanization, and comprehensive strength of established towns. This framework enables dynamic monitoring of the development status and levels of small and medium-sized cities and towns in China.

Wudang district's inclusion among the top 100 districts is based on the green development index within the evaluation system. The green development index for small and medium-sized cities includes four primary indicators: resource conservation, green consumption, pollution control, and environmental quality, along with 22 secondary indicators.
