Wudang sees tourism surge over National Day holiday

During this year's National Day holiday on Oct 1-7, Wudang district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received 545,600 visitors, a year-on-year increase of 15.16 percent and generating a tourism revenue of 279 million yuan ($39.53 million), up 16.86 percent from last year.

In celebration of the seven-day holiday, the district prepared a variety of tourism events. To fully tap into its rural tourism appeal, Wudang's rural areas organized activities such as seasonal fruit and vegetable picking, including kiwi and mushrooms, hands-on farming experiences like catching fish in muddy lands and harvesting rice, and making traditional crafts like tie-dyeing and batik.

Additionally, the district offered a rich variety of cultural activities, including exhibitions showcasing the achievements of Guiyang's cultural talent (in the field of intangible cultural heritage), performances and markets featuring intangible cultural heritage, and landscape photography exhibitions held in scenic areas, blocks and communities.
