Farmers' Harvest Festival celebrated with rural sports in Wudang

The 2024 Guiyang Farmers' Harvest Festival Fitness Series and Rural Fun Sports Event kicked off on Sept 22 at Baiyi town in Wudang district, hosted by Guizhou Agriculture Vocational College. Around 1,000 participants from 12 teams gathered to showcase their skills and celebrate the joy of harvest through various engaging competitions.

The event featured traditional activities like fish-catching, tug-of-war, corn threshing, and rice transplanting, blending local culture with fun. The fish-catching competition was a crowd favorite, as contestants waded into the water to capture elusive fish, sparking cheers and laughter. In the corn threshing event, participants displayed impressive speed and precision. Farmers transformed into athletes in the rice transplanting competition, demonstrating teamwork and expertise honed from years in the fields.

The event took place at the college's Baiyi training base, which spans over 800 mu (53.33 hectares) and serves as a hub for agricultural training and research. Alongside the sports activities, a farmers' market offered local specialties like golden pears, kiwis, and tea, delighting attendees. The lively atmosphere of camaraderie and celebration filled the air, reflecting the vibrant spirit of modern rural life.
