Baiyi Chili, based in Wudang district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently applied to become a geographical indication trademark.

The certificate was issued on Jan 7 this year after passing review.

In recent years, Wudang has been organizing expert teams to conduct thorough research. Through the joint efforts of multiple departments, trademarks for geographical indication have been applied for on behalf of brands including Xiaba Cherries, Baiyi Chili, and Baiyi Gastrodia Elata. Baiyi Chili is the first to pass the review process and receive a certificate, while Xiaba Cherries are still undergoing review.

Baiyi Chili is an excellent local chili variety in Guizhou with a long history of cultivation, and it is one of the three major chili brands in the province, along with Zunyi Xiazi Chili and Huaxi Dangwu Chili.

Benefiting from unique geographical conditions and climate, Baiyi Chili features bright colors, spicy taste, strong fragrance, thin skin and thick flesh. These peppers are rich in various essential trace elements needed by the human body and are highly popular.

Moving forward, Wudang will continue to strengthen its regional brands and lead the high-quality development of agricultural industrialization.
