Since the beginning of this year, Xinpu village in Xinpu township, Wudang district, has adopted a new "three ones" development model – one household, one field, and one farm, aiming to integrate scattered and unutilized lands into a contiguous and consolidated area, enabling the households to develop family farms.
Lin Zhengfu, the first in the village to develop a family farm, exchanged more than 40 mu (2.67 hectares) of land this year. Through cultivating watermelons, he earned over 200,000 yuan ($27,840) in income.
The successful implementation of the development model has attracted local young people who work outside the village to return and start their own businesses, including Wang Jixian, who used to work in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province.
Wang said that upon returning to the village, he quickly formulated a development plan for his farm. Seizing the booming opportunity in the camping and outdoor recreation market, he decided to transform small-area fields into larger ones, creating a deer-themed farm that integrates activities such as forest farming, family-friendly activities, camping, and barbecues.
Soon, Wang successfully converted of 23 mu of land. Faced with financial difficulties, the local government, after conducting on-site visits and assessments, coordinated with local banking institutions to provide loans with low-interest rates, supplemented by government subsidies, resolving Wang's financing issues.
So far, the village is home to 12 family farms, while the township is home to 27, and that number is growing steadily.
