Wudang achieves strong results in rural reform

Over the years, Wudang district has been prioritizing rural development and in 2023 became the first in the province to be listed as one of 12 national pilot experimental zones for comprehensive rural reform nationwide.

Efforts have been made by Wudang in several key areas including farmland protection, industrial development, technological innovation, and building civilized and beautiful villages.

Since the beginning of this year, Wudang has established one suburban cold chain storage and distribution center and completed the construction of seven agricultural demonstration bases.

Additionally, 49 demonstration fields have been assessed, 5,000 mu (333.33 hectares) of high-standard farmland have been developed, and a fixed monitoring network system for major crop diseases and pests has been established with five monitoring points. The district has also assisted 105 households in completing land exchanges.

In terms of the integrated development of agriculture, tourism and related industries, Wudang has built 17 demonstration villages for fruit and vegetable cultivation, and the retail sales of agricultural products reached 25.04 million yuan ($3.51 million).

The district has been honored as the best destination for summer and health & leisure tourism, as well as the most valuable zone for cultural and tourism development and investment. Its tourism income has reached 6.35 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 30.34 percent.

In addition, since the start of this year, Wudang has revitalized 60 idle residential buildings on rural homesteads, completed two rural drinking water security projects, and added five new national-level civilized towns and demonstration villages.
