Since the beginning of this year, Wudang district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been developing a 1,400-mu (93.33 hectares) corn seed cultivation base. The average yield of 842.55 kilograms per mu (fresh corn) has increased income by 1,870.2 yuan ($255.47) per mu, bringing in an output value of 4.72 million yuan annually.

These achievements can be attributed to the district's multifaceted efforts.

Wudang has formulated the "Wudang District's 2022-2025 Implementation Plan for High-Quality Development of Modern Seed Industry," which outlines a seed industrial development mechanism to be established by 2025 with government support, departmental leadership, and collaboration between institutions such as colleges and research institutes as well as businesses such as companies and cooperatives.

Meanwhile, the Wudang bureau of agricultural and rural affairs has organized multiple seed industry advancement meetings to address various issues concerning land, water, electricity, and other areas for several seed enterprises.

Wudang has also established a partnership with Guizhou Vocational College of Agriculture, and jointly built a provincial-level agricultural science and technology experiment demonstration base.

Additionally, the district has provided training, guidance, and technical services for agricultural technical personnel and is now home to 18 senior agronomists, two agricultural technology extension researchers, and 49 front-line agronomists.

Moreover, Wudang has adopted a cooperation model of "seed enterprises + cooperatives + farmers". The new high-quality enterprises and teams have brought advanced concepts and technologies to local enterprises and farmers.
