In recent years, Pingba village in Wudang district has been engaged in a variety of industries including tourism, seedlings, fruits and vegetables cultivation, seeking to increase villagers' incomes.
By making use of its agricultural resources, the village has developed industries, including greenhouse fruits and vegetables and edible fungi. This has led to the per capita annual income of previously poor households increasing by more than 8,000 yuan ($1,094.40).
In order to improve the rural environment and infrastructure, the village has renovated 76 rural farmhouses, laid and greened 4 kilometers of asphalt roads, treated the landscape along 500 meters of rivers, and built two new squares.
These efforts have not only improved the living environment of villagers, but also laid a solid foundation for the development of local tourism.
To date, the village has created over 30 homestays offering a total of 500 guest rooms with a maximum capacity of approximately 1,000 visitors. This year's summer tourism revenue is estimated to exceed 2 million yuan.
Moving forward, the village will continue to improve its rural infrastructure, and utilize land and idle farmhouses to promote the upgrade and transformation of rural industries.
