Wudang district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received 536,500 tourist visits during the May Day holiday from April 29 to May 3.
The number of visits represented a year-on-year growth of 41.4 percent. And the district generated 269 million yuan ($38.92 million) in tourism revenue, up 65.33 percent year-on-year.
The townships of Xinbao, Xiaba, and Pianpo, as well as the towns of Yangchang and Xinchang carried out theme events centering around culture, sports, intangible cultural heritage items, food, and flower appreciation.
Wudang launched two-day, three-day, four-day, and five-day travel routes featuring picking experiences, culture experiences, urban cultural and food experiences, as well as countryside experiences, further boosting consumption in the local cultural and tourism market.
To maintain order of the tourism market, the district also conducted supervision and guidance on production safety, as well as COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures at tourist attractions, hotels, entertainment venues, public cultural service venues, and cultural relics sites.
