Wudang boosts agriculture with local characteristics

Wudang district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, will strengthen and improve modern agriculture featuring mountain characteristics and high efficiency this year. 

Relying on the advantages of their climates, brands and resources, all townships in Wudang district will develop industries for vegetables, edible fungi, peppers, fruit, Chinese medicinal materials, tea, seed and seedlings, and forest-derived planting.

Yangchang town will focus on seedlings and controlled environmental agricultural technology; Xinpu and Pianpo townships will develop rural leisure tourism agriculture highlighting fruit and vegetable picking, and farming experience; Baiyi, Xinchang and Xiaba towns will focus on pepper, vegetable and fruit industries; and Dongfeng and Shuitian towns will extend industrial chains for storage, cold chain, processing and packaging, and logistics of agricultural products, so as to enhance the added value of agricultural products. 

The whole district will focus on building regional public brands and creating a number of competitive products and special agricultural products. 

Relying on local leading agricultural enterprises and cooperatives, Wudang will drive the development of pillar sectors in agriculture. 

In addition, Wudang plans to organize more vocational skills training with the aim of cultivating 350 high-quality farmers, 140 senior agricultural technicians, 420 agricultural technicians and 700 talents in rural areas.
