Wudang sets up economic, social development goals for 2023

Wudang district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, set its economic and social development goals for 2023 at the second session of the 18th Wudang District People's Congress.

According to the meeting, in 2023, Wudang's GDP is expected to increase by 6.5 percent, the added value of its agriculture, industries above designated size, and service industries will increase by 6 percent, 9 percent, and 7 percent, respectively.

The total output value of the construction industry in Wudang is expected to increase by 15 percent; fixed asset investment will increase by 8 percent; and the total retail sales for consumer goods are expected to increase by 8 percent.

Meanwhile, more than 6,000 new urban jobs will be created, and the per capita disposable income of permanent urban and rural residents will increase by about 7 percent and 9 percent, respectively.

To achieve such goals, Wudang will arrange a project fund of 20 million yuan ($2.99 million) to support the development of key areas such as industrial development, new infrastructure, transportation, water conservancy, ecological environmental protection, and rural vitalization.

Wudang will promote the construction of 24 provincial major projects and key projects. It will strive to complete 130 fixed asset investment projects throughout the year, while also reaching an investment total of 18.5 billion yuan and an industrial investment total of more than 5 billion yuan.

In addition, Wudang will increase its support for catering, accommodation, retail and other industries, and ensure the cultivation of more than 10 commercial and trade enterprises above designated size.

The district will introduce health and medical logistics enterprises, build the largest gathering area for pharmaceutical logistics in the province, and further develop its night economy.

Furthermore, Wudang will support enterprises in technological upgrades, market development, and production increase.

Plans are for Wudang to add two provincial-level leading enterprises, more than 15 industrial enterprises above designated size, two national-level "little giant" enterprises, 15 provincial-level specialized enterprises, and 20 municipal-level innovative small and medium-sized enterprises within the year.
