Wudang district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, saw a boom in tourism during this year's Spring Festival holiday, which ran from Jan 21 to 27.
A total of 165,700 tourists arrived in Wudang over the seven-day period, a year-on-year increase of 41.38 percent. The tourism revenue generated during the holiday reached 68 million yuan ($9.71 million), increasing by 48.38 percent when compared with the same period last year.
A series of culture and tourism activities was held during the break to attract tourists, which highlighted intangible cultural heritage items such as lantern shows, and tofu and ciba-making demonstrations.

In addition, the district's bureau of culture, sports, radio, television and tourism carried out safety inspections at accommodation venues, as well as tourism and cultural locations to ensure that COVID-19 prevention and control measures were followed.
The tourism market during the holiday was reportedly strong, with no delays or complaints.
