Rural revitalization has become a priority for Wudang district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, and significant progress has been made over the past 10 years.

From 2012 to 2021, Wudang invested a total of 79.27 million yuan ($11.89 million) in special poverty alleviation funds to help residents escape poverty.

During the period, the per capita disposable income of rural residents in Wudang increased by an average of 9.2 percent per year.

By the end of 2019, Wudang's 3,620 people from 1,352 poverty-stricken households had escaped poverty, and 1,072 people from 281 households had been relocated.

What's more, Wudang has continued to consolidate achievements in poverty alleviation by implementing poverty monitoring and an early-warning system, boosting employment among once poverty-stricken laborers, and conducting follow-up support for residents relocated for purposes of poverty alleviation.

Additionally, many efforts have been made to improve the living environment of Wudang's rural residents. Projects involving drinking water, transportation, wastewater treatment and housing repair have been carried out.
