After a two-month revamp, Xinyi farmer's market – located in Wudang district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – opened its doors for business on Sept 13.

With a total investment of 2.69 million yuan ($416,099), the remodeled area of the market involved around 2,000 square meters.

The upgraded farmer's market has been sectioned off into 101 stalls, covering more than 10 categories – including fresh meat, vegetables, seafood products, groceries, soy flour, cooked food and fruit.

In order to run things better, the market is now equipped with upgraded management, such as electronic monitoring, a pesticide residue detection system, electronic scales and displays, and a beefed-up announcement system.

In addition, a number of other key improvements have been introduced to its day-to-day operation – covering administration, sanitation and cleaning, safety management, fire protection and car parking.

"The upgraded farmer's market looks fresh, clean and hygienic, and we are eager to buy our vegetables there," said Mao Lanying, a Wudang resident.
