During the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, Wudang district of Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – plans to continue to push ahead with its high-quality development.

By 2025, the district is projected to achieve gross domestic product of 32.5 billion yuan ($5.03 billion) and will strive to better that, to top 35 billion yuan.

The permanent population will reach 500,000 by then, while the permanent urban population is predicted to reach 400,000 and the urbanization rate will reach about 80 percent.

Positive progress is expected to be made in the construction of new-type urbanization and the built-up area in the district will expand to more than 45 square kilometers.

The district's R&D expenditure will account for more than 1.5 percent of fiscal expenditure and the number of talents will exceed 90,000.

In addition, the added value of Wudang's high-tech industries will account for about 80 percent of industries above a designated size, while there will be a ratio of 24 invention patents per 10,000 people.

By that period, the district's urban and rural pollution control capabilities are expected to have been greatly improved, with a commensurate optimal impact on the environment.

The forest coverage rate will be stable at more than 58 percent and the air quality rate will be maintained at more than 95 percent.

Meanwhile, the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents is expected to be basically synchronized with economic growth.
