Wudang makes progress with Long March National Cultural Park

The Wudang district of Guiyang – capital city of China's Southwest Guizhou province – has been reportedly making real progress in the establishment of its Long March National Cultural Park to a high standard.

In 2019, the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council issued plans for the construction of a series of Great Wall, Grand Canal and Long March national cultural parks.

This identified Guizhou as a key construction area for the Long March National Cultural Park. The Long March of the Red Army passed through seven townships, 46 administrative villages and 318 villages in Wudang, with a cumulative travel distance of more than 100 kilometers.

Based on its own conditions and needs, Wudang has integrated its red cultural resources into its municipal planning.

It received approval for a three-year construction project for the Red Army Crossing Wudang Long March Route, the Baiyi Red Army Martyrs Cemetery, the Yangchang Huanglian Red Army Village, Red Army Long March Experience Trail in Guaijiu village, Baiyi township – as well as the former site of the Beiya activity of the Guizhou Provincial Working Committee.

At present, Wudang has reportedly completed construction of the Red Army Crossing Wudang Long March Route, the Baiyi Red Army Martyrs Cemetery and the Red Army Long March Experience Trail in Guaijiu.

In the construction of the Long March National Cultural Park in Guizhou, Wudang is said to have deeply explored red resources and red culture. It has also upgraded learning forms and educational content, providing core resources and an important platform for the development of revolutionary education and the cultivation of patriotism.
