In Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, Wudang district recently issued an action plan for developing the night-time economy.
The night-time economy refers to business activities between 6 pm and 6 am in the services sector.
Many Chinese cities, especially metropolises such as Beijing and Shanghai, have rolled out plans to support night-time markets. Wudang district is also actively responding to the trend.
Wudang district is to develop its night-time economy by establishing night-time economy demonstration blocks, providing more innovative night-time entertainment and consumption formats and improving related service facilities.
Xintian Weicheng, Quancheng Shoufu, Renheng Walking Street, Beiya Road and Baoli Hot Spring Food Street are among the key areas for Wudang to construct night-time economy demonstration blocks.
The beautification of the night-time landscape and construction of supporting facilities such as signs, lighting facilities, leisure amenities, sanitation facilities and public Wi-Fi will be soon conducted in the above areas.
Meanwhile, Wudang district will push forward the development of seven night-time consumption categories: hot springs, travel, cultural creativity, dining, shopping, fitness and accommodation.
The district will also accelerate the construction and operation of such business complexes as Xintian International Shopping Center, Wangfujing, Yunshan Aiqing and Luowan Evergrande.
It strives to significantly improve the supply capacity of night-time products and services and increase the number of cultural highlights at night over the next three to five years.
