The education bureau of Wudang district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, granted assistance funds totaling 13.45 million yuan ($2.05 million) in 2020 to help local poverty alleviation.
These funds are used to benefit students in pre-school education and compulsory education, as well as those in high schools, secondary vocational schools and universities.
The bureau has implemented a raft of measures to help students in need, such as reducing dropout rates, financing needy students, launching nutrition improvement plans, and ensuring the admission of students from households relocated due to impoverishment.
It also increased publicity efforts for education supportive policies, especially among teachers and students, such as setting up bulletin boards, LED displays and consultation windows in schools and related places.
