Wudang selected as all-for-one tourism demonstration area

Wudang district in Guiyang -- capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- was recently included as a national demonstration area for all-for-one tourism, according to an announcement released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Nov 18.

Covering a total area of 686 square kilometers, Wudang boosts a great environment, with an average annual temperature of 14.6 C, a forest coverage rate of 57.95 percent and a 96.4 percent excellent air quality rate.

It has rich tourism resources, including three national 4A-level tourist attractions, one national key rural tourism village, one Chinese ethnic village and a national ecological and cultural village, as well as other more than 20 tourist attractions.

Since 2016, the district has taken the creation of a national all-for-one tourism demonstration zone as its starting point, giving full play to its advantages in terms of location, transport and environment -- with its mountain scenery, ethnic customs, hot springs, agricultural experiences and outdoor sports to be enjoyed by visitors.

It has now integrated tourism with agriculture, culture and the health industries, having guided the district's tourism industry towards branded, high-end offerings and internationalized development.

In 2019, total revenue from tourism in Wudang district reached 13.89 billion yuan ($2.11 billion), with 23.08 million visits.

The number of domestic tourists from outside the province increased by 27.8 percent year-on-year, while the number of foreign tourists increased by 35.2 percent year-on-year.
