Wudang district in Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has invested 2.08 billion yuan ($301.83 million) over the past three years to improve its local education.
The district carried out a program entitled “hundred school alleviation” to turn around backward educational facilities and boost the supply of education resources.
During the same period, Wudang has built, extended and upgraded 27 schools and recruited an additional 300 teachers.
To improve the planning and layout of its educational resources, the district brought in the services of leading schools – including Guiyang Middle School Affiliated to Minzu University of China – to manage and run its local schools, with the aim of lifting the quality of education.
Wudang also introduced reforms to its administration of schools, addressing specific areas of concern of students and parents.
Meanwhile, the district has put more efforts into improving the layout of its educational system in 2020.
Projects have been implemented to better manage educational resources of communities, with the goal of public kindergartens accounting for 50 percent of preschool education, as well as bringing benefits to at least 82 percent of school-age children.
