The Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone advanced its natural environment from partial improvements to systematic enhancement during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), painting a distinctive green backdrop for regional development.

The zone has established a comprehensive and multi-tiered pollution prevention and control system by strengthening the forecasting and early warning capabilities for polluted weather, enhancing dust supervision, and advancing comprehensive improvements in the environment.
The rate of excellent air quality days had hit 99.7 percent by 2025, an increase of 1.4 percentage points compared with 2020 – exceeding the target. The average annual concentration of particulate matter (PM2.5) dropped to 17 micrograms per cubic meter, surpassing municipal assessment requirements.

The compliance rate of surface water quality has remained at 100 percent over the past five years, while black and odorous water bodies have been completely eliminated across the zone.
Through the investigation, tracing, and filing of 130 sewage outlets into rivers, as well as the dismantling and relocation of eight environmental hazard sites in secondary protected areas, the quality of drinking water sources has been fully ensured, with a 100 percent compliance rate with standards.
The soil environmental quality compliance rate for both key construction land and cultivated land has reached 100 percent, with no agricultural product safety incidents caused by soil pollution reported for five consecutive years.
By implementing standardized supervision of hazardous waste across 235 enterprises, the harmless disposal rate of sludge has reached 100 percent.
A total area of 10,600 mu (706.67 hectares) has been afforested, with more than 330,000 saplings planted, and the full implementation of the forest chief system has ensured the protection of green mountains, building a solid ecological barrier for regional development.
