During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the number of scenic spots in Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone increased from four in 2022 to 11 in 2024, while the annual reception of tourists increased from 1.6 million in 2022 to over 6 million in 2024.
In 2024, the number of tourists to the zone exceeded 6 million, a year-on-year increase of 58.8 percent, and tourism revenue increased by 88.08 percent. From January to September 2025, tourist reception and tourism consumption revenue increased by 15.5 percent and 17.8 percent, respectively, year-on-year.
The zone is currently home to 27 mid to high-end hotels with a total of 4,966 guest rooms. Multiple hotel projects under construction will continue to enhance the regional reception capacity.
Relying on its numerous hot springs, the zone will adopt a "hot springs+" model to promote the deep integration of hot springs with tourism, vacation, and healthcare industries, and strive to create an influential hot spring tourism brand.
The prosperity of the cultural and tourism industry has injected strong momentum into the accommodation industry. The number of restricted accommodation enterprises in the zone has increased from five in 2022 to 17. In 2023, the cumulative revenue of accommodation enterprises above the designated size in the zone reached 110 million yuan ($15.45 million), a year-on-year increase of 44.61 percent.
In 2024, the cumulative revenue of 16 accommodation enterprises above the designated size reached 173 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.53 percent. The turnover from January to September 2025 reached 164 million yuan, up 23.36 percent.
Shuanglong will focus on accelerating the construction of tourism distribution centers, creating high-quality tourism routes, and developing the hot spring industry, promoting the construction of a world-class tourism destination through systematic layout, and writing a new chapter in the high-quality development of the cultural and tourism industry.
