The 2024 summer air travel season officially kicked off on July 1 and will run until August 31.
On the first day of the summer rush, China Southern Airlines operated 108 inbound and outbound flights at the Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, transporting approximately 14,500 passengers. This marked significant increases of around 15 percent and 16.8 percent, respectively, compared to the same period in 2023.
Based on current market data, Guizhou Civil Aviation Industry Group Co predicts that during the entire summer travel season, Guiyang airport is expected to handle a total of 4.34 million passengers, averaging 70,000 passengers per day and representing a 7.03-percent increase compared to 2023. The number of passenger flights is estimated to reach 29,760, averaging 480 flights per day, a 5.49-percent increase from 2023.
The peak of the summer rush is expected to occur in mid-August, during which Guiyang airport is projected to handle an average of 75,000 passengers and around 505 flights per day.
From the start of the summer rush until mid-August, flights at Guiyang airport is expected to primarily serve regions such as East China, Central South China, North China, and Northwest China, with flight distribution percentages of 46 percent, 22 percent, 14 percent, and 8 percent, respectively.
