During the 2024 Spring Festival travel rush, which began on Jan 26 and ended on March 5, Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport achieved record-high volumes in passenger and cargo throughput.
The airport handled a total of 18,600 takeoffs and landings during this period, catering to 2.59 million passengers, marking year-on-year increases of 28.06 percent and 41.85 percent, respectively.
Notably, on Feb 15, the airport saw a record-breaking single-day passenger throughput of 76,000.
Popular travel destinations during this period included Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Quanzhou, and Wenzhou.
In terms of cargo transportation, the airport experienced a significant increase in freight and mail throughput, with the overall cargo volume maintaining a positive trend.
Throughout the Spring Festival travel rush, the airport handled a total cargo and mail throughput of 10,196.48 metric tons, marking an 18.31-percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. Of this, the airport's international cargo throughput reached 231.72 tons, representing a staggering year-on-year growth of 328 percent compared to 2019 and 2,117.42 percent compared to 2023.
On Feb 2, the airport achieved a single-day cargo and mail throughput of 495.26 tons, setting a new record for cargo volume during the Spring Festival travel rush.
