A test flight on the west runway of the Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport was successfully completed on Sept 16.
The Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport is located in the Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The airport will officially begin operating two runways on Dec 2 this year.
The west runway of the airport started operation on May 28, 1997 and has been in service for 24 years. On Nov 5, 2020, the new east runway began operating and the expansion of the west runway started.
The length of the original west runway has been extended from 3,200 meters to 3,500 meters.
In recent years, with the rapid economic and social development of Guizhou, more and more tourists are visiting the province.
The annual passenger throughput of the airport has already exceeded 20 million, and the average number of takeoffs and landings has exceeded 460 per day.
