The Guiyang unicorn acceleration base was unveiled in Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province on May 14.
A unicorn refers to a startup company that is valued at more than $1 billion within 10 years of its establishment.
At present, the base is home to 19 technology companies, including nine high-growth companies.
Jointly constructed by Shuanglong economic zone and Dark Horse (Beijing) Science and Technology Co in 2020, the base focuses on technology-based industries such as artificial intelligence, big data, and the digital economy.
It aims to introduce and incubate a number of high-growth enterprises, accelerate the cultivation of unicorn enterprises, and form a full-lifecycle innovation demonstration base that integrates incubation, cultivation and acceleration, to help the economic zone build a new engine for innovation.
A signing ceremony for key investment promotion projects was also held on the day.
It is expected that the introduced enterprises will be able to achieve an output value of 200 million yuan ($31.13 million) this year, which will bring employment to nearly 2,000 people.
