During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone embraced high-quality development and achieved continuous progress in various aspects.
In 2017, the economic zone was approved as a national airport economic demonstration zone and a national inspection and quarantine pilot zone.
Over the five years, the added value of industries above a designated size – those with an annual output of 20 million yuan ($2.89 million) or more – experienced an average yearly growth rate of 11.25 percent.
The average annual growth rate of the operating income of service industry enterprises above the designated size reached 7.82 percent. The average annual growth rate of foreign trade imports and exports hit 57.56 percent.
The zone completed the relocation of 7,333 households with 440,000 people in 15 administrative villages.
With an investment of 34.6 billion yuan, Shuanglong built 30 roads with a total length of 140 kilometers. These roads have since opened to traffic.
In addition to traffic infrastructure, the Longdongbao Sewage Treatment Plant and Dapo Sewage Treatment Plant were built and put into operation.
Many basic supporting facilities such as the Central Ecological Park, Shuanglong Sports Park, Li Duanfen Middle School and Xiaobi Medical and Health Service Center have also been built.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Shuanglong signed and introduced 112 key projects, with the total contracted investment amount exceeding 140 billion yuan and the actual funds in place totaling 86 billion yuan.
At present, a number of high-quality industrial projects are advancing, including Baoneng New Energy Vehicles.
By the end of 2020, Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport had opened 252 routes, including 25 international routes linking to 21 countries such as Russia, France and Australia. The airport's domestic routes cover most cities in China.
