Since its official operation on April 1, the international mail center at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been operating smoothly, according to airport officials.
As of April 20, the amount of imported and exported mail that was cleared reached more than 16,000 envelopes and parcels, of which imported international mail accounted for nearly 70 percent.

In the wake of the launch of the international mail center, the processing time for international mail was reduced by two days to five days, effectively reducing logistics costs.
Officials said that the mail center is of great importance in terms of helping Guizhou to increase its opening up to the world.
They said it will also help increase investment in industry, expand the import and export trade -- as well as accelerate the development of express logistics and cross-border e-commerce, while developing the international tourism market.
