During the first seven months of the year, the Guiyang Free Trade Zone – located in Southwest China's Guizhou province – posted a surge in foreign trade to a record $1.58 billion, up 156 percent year-on-year and ranking it number one in the city.
Imports came in at $619 million, climbing 111 percent and exports soared to $957 million – a year-on-year increase of 197 percent.
The Guiyang FTZ reported 21 companies with foreign trade in the period topping $10 million each, with seven companies topping $100 million each. The total value of cross-border e-commerce trade hit $430 million, which exceeded the annual target of $400 million.
This year, the Guiyang FTZ has taken the construction of the Guiyang international dry port to launch logistics channels, establish platforms and attract products and industries so as to bolster its further opening-up.
In February, the Guiyang FTZ helped the China (Guizhou) cross-border e-commerce comprehensive service platform connect with the Guiyang public service platform and provide foreign trade services for companies.
To date, the platform has attracted more than 100 companies and generated $450 million worth of imports and exports.
Furthermore, the Guiyang FTZ has cooperated with the Dula International Logistics Port – in the Baiyun district, near the zone – and realized the operations of the China-Europe Express, a connection with the China-Laos Railway and sea transportation through the New International Land-Sea Corridor.
In June, the Guiyang international dry port debuted its first freight train and successfully realized combined rail-sea transportation.
The Guiyang FTZ has also organized investment promotion teams to introduce industrial development and preferential policies.
To further optimize its business environment, the Guiyang FTZ has established a service center to offer one-stop services for companies. It has also attracted various logistics, distribution, trading companies and agencies to complete the zone's supply chain and offer more opportunities for companies to go global.
