The Guiyang Free Trade Zone – located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – will speed up its construction of an innovative platform and expand its high-level opening-up, according to Yao Feiyang, secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Guiyang FTZ and director of the Guiyang FTZ Administrative Committee.
In the latest guideline released in late January by the State Council – China's Cabinet – the government provided a clear direction for the strategic positioning of Guizhou as a new inland highland to develop the opening-up economy. As the province's first free trade zone, it's understood that the Guiyang FTZ will take onboard its responsibilities and mission and undertake practical action.
The zone is set to build export-oriented industrial clusters to boost the open economy and improve overall its competitiveness. It will strengthen leading industries such as electronics information manufacturing, advanced equipment manufacturing and imported grain and oil processing – to achieve new breakthroughs in foreign trade, foreign investment and cross-border e-commerce.
The zone will accelerate the second phase of its construction of the Dulaying International Land-sea Logistics Port, to expand its opening-up channels. Its aim is to build itself into a cargo distribution center connecting countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and the RCEP trade accord, as well as an R&D and manufacturing hub for foreign commerce and trade.
In addition, the zone will undertake measures to improve its overall business environment. Water, power and gas supplies will be guaranteed, to facilitate the steady production and operation of enterprises.
